Catrice Absolutely Chinchilly

First of all, for my dutch readers, I own a beautyblog since the first of february called Beauty ‘n Spice. I think it would be great if you will follow me there! All my beauty related posts will be up there since it is much easier for me to write in Dutch instead of English since Dutch is my first language. I will keep Nailoholic and will post my nailart etc. here but it will be on less regular base.

Anyways, today I want to show you one of the new Catrice lacquers. It’s absolutely Chinchilly and I’ve won it at a giveaway at Battered Rose, this website is closed since the owner decided to start up a new blog, feeling more like her. That’s Ara’s Adventures.

I love this color! It’s so gorgeous, greyish brown. The sort of color that we have seen quite some times in the fall/winter. It was easy to apply, only needed 2 coats, dried fast. Can’t really wish for more. Imo this is a must-have fashionable color!

Catrice Illuminating Powder

In the new Catrice Limited Edition collection called Urban Baroque they featured this Illuminating Powder. It’s called Masquerade Ball. I have to be honest with you, I only bought it because I like the design of the package and the colors inside lol. I’m such a dork sometimes. The powder can be used as a highlighter. It gives you a nice glow. I almost never use highlighter on my face, only on my browbone so I guess I won’t use this as much. The smell of this powder reminds me of babypowder. It smells the same in my opinion. I bought this powder for €4,49.

The Urban Baroque is in store now so if you want to buy something from it, hurry because the LE from this brand sell out quite fast, this was actually the last one in my store..

Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans!

As a lot of you know, Catrice changed the look of their core line. They added a few polishes to their core collection, and  this is one of them. Don’t you love the name? It is a jeans (surprise..) blue with little blue shimmers. I really like it. The shimmer isn’t really noticable. You can see it better in the bottle than on the nails, but I still like this color. It is not a blue you can find at any drugstore brand. It’s kinda unique and I like that.

Application, dry time and weartime were just how we are used to with the new catrice polishes. This one was not that thick so it is just plain perfect for me. I really like it!

Times Square at Midnight

I’ve got this lacquer from the Catrice Glamourama collection. It is Times Square at midnight. A deep purple with blue and pink shimmer. I think it is a really nice color. At the picture above you can’t see the shimmer because the lightning sucks at the moment in The Netherlands.

I like these kind of lacquers matte, so I decided to try out the brand new Matte topcoat from Catrice. As most of you may know they changed their core collection, and this is one of the new lacquers they’ve got.

I saw this idea at lacquerized I believe (correct me if I’m wrong). I really liked the idea of playing a bit with the matte and shiny topcoats. So I did a fancy french manicure. First I applied the matte topcoat and then I did a freehand french with regular tc. The lacquer applied easily, 2 coats is enough to make it cover you whole nail. Wear time is good, the photo’s above are made after 1.5 day of wearing. Only the french topcoat is a bit chipped, the polish under that is still okay.

Expect the unexpected

You probaly have seen this on all the nailpolishblogs you follow but I still want to show you some swatches from the new Limited Edition Catrice polishes. There are 4 colors, a grey, a greenish grey, a purple and a red one. They are all cremes. One thing that I noticed is that the bottles are a little bit smaller than the core line ones. The expect the unexpected ones contains 8 ml and the core ones 12 (0.27/0.34fl.oz). Application was okay. The formula of these lacquers are better than some of the cores. It was a bit thinner. Dry time was okay, not really fast though.

The first one is Crispy Crimson. The dark red one. This one was more sheer than the others. It needed 3 coats, fine by me.

The color is in between these pictures. The light sucks lately, but I really wanted to swatch these because they are available in stores now. They sell for 2,49€ a piece.

Then we have Looking Greyt. Don’t you think Catrice came up with some cool names? I do. Anyways. I think this is my favourite from this collection. I own London’s Weather Forecast too, but that one has a bit of shimmer in it. I was still looking for a grey lacquer that was completely creme. Well, guess I found it! I did own a matte one, but I like this one better.

The third is a greyish green, named Spruced Up.

It reminds me just a tiny bit of jade is the new black, but than a darker version. I really digg this color. I love it! It is quite unique in my collection. Normally I’m not into green polishes but at one way or the other I happen to like this.

And last, but not least, the purple one. Purposely Purple.

I don’t think this one is special. I have seen this, or a similar purple color in many collections from drugstore and easy available brands. However, application is great, wear time is good, you only need 2 coats for full coverage so if you do not own a similar color than you might consider buying it.

I do like this collection. I don’t think it fits with the Expect the Unexpected because 2 out of the 4 colors are not that special and easy to get with another brand. I really do like the grey and green one, and recommend buying these. Any of you already got these polishes, what do you like or dislike? Tell me in the comments.

Hot or not?

So, is this one hot or not? It’s from the Catrice collection and this is the first one I had a hard time with. The polish was kinda thick and I didn’t find it easy to apply. Weird how polish formulas change from polish to polish, even when they are in the same collection. The color is great, a really bright dark pink. It’s a little darker then the pictures show. It needed 2 coats for complete coverage so that’s a good thing.

I sea you

This lovely color is I sea you. Think most of you know it already cause it’s one of the popular colors from this Catrice collection. This one and Sold out for ever were sold out most of the time at my store. I managed to get SOFE but then I doutbed if I should buy it or not. Last week I finally did it. And why didn’t I bought it at first place? I absoluty love this color. It’s a little darker than SOFE and more my style.

The application was okay. The polish was a bit on the thick side but it was better than the hot or not one I showed you yesterday. Think you all know by now how I feel about these polishes so this is it for this post.

Royal Petrol

This Catrice polish is from the Royal Nights collection. It’s actually the middle polish in my header. I love this one. The application is great, color is a stunning blue with silver and really reminds me of petrol. I personally think this is quite a unique color. Most of the drugstore brands only sell those plain simple creme colors but Catrice does a good job with their Limited Editions. I’m always curious to see their new lines.

The only bad thing is that their packages aren’t that good all the time. This one is comes in a square bottle and mine doesn’t close that well and the bottle cap comes off. But that isn’t doing anything to the color right?.

Lilac Comparison

So I promised you to do a comparison with Gosh Wild Lilac and Catrice Lucky in Lilac. So, you can guess wich one is Gosh and wich one is Catrice… They are dead on dupes. The first en third nail from the left are the Catrice ones, the others are Gosh. As you can see the Gosh one is a tiny bit lighter but you can’t really tell when they are on your nails. I do like the formula of the gosh one better. The Catrice one is a bit thicker.

World Cup 2010

So, today the dutch team plays the first game, and of course I have my nails in style haha! First I started with another manicure but it was quite a disaster. Couldn’t get straight and even lines and it just didn’t worked out the way I planned. It annoyed me so I took the whole thing off and started with another idea.

So this was the first idea. See how the lines are not straight and how the white part is waaay bigger at my pinky? I’m really irritated by my nails if they are not the way I want to.

For this manicure I used a catrice french manicure base (for the white, but it wasn’t white enough). Then with a paint brush the blue color. It’s Static Electricity from LA Colors. With another paint brush (otherwise you mix the blue and red together) the red color. This is a red from Etos in #A188. Now pick a orange color. I used Orange You Sexy from Diamond Cosmetics. So, if the color you used as a basecolor is a opague white you should be done. Mine wasn’t, so I re-did the white with a LA colors art deco striper in white. Finish with topcoat and do a cleanup and you are done!
