Flowers

Sometimes I get inspired by pictures I see. A few weeks ago I saw a picture of cherryblossems and other flowers and that inspired me to do a flower nail-art. The colors I used are all from Diamond Cosmetics. I’m not sure about all the names of the polishes since they were named c1 and c4 etc. For the flowers I used Tickled Pink as a basecolor, it’s a light pink color which is great as a base for these flowers. Than I used a darker pink/orange color, Calypso, I think the base and maincolor on the nail is Blue Bell, but I’m not completely sure since it is one of those C numbers. The dark purple in the middle of the flowers is also a C number from Diamond Cosmetics, I’m not completely sure but I think it’s Princess Orchid.

It’s quite simple to make these kind of designs. Suzanne from DeltaCephei asked me to do a tutorial when I showed her these pictures yesterday so I think I will make one in the future. For now: The first step is to use a basecolor. I did a blue one, but I think you will get a cool effect when you use a light but bright pink color, than you need a really light pink for the flowers. At first I did 3 drops, but I like it better when you do four. Make sure you don’t have a lot of nailpolish on your brush since you do not want perfect rounds. I applied the other two pink color with a small paintingbrush since you need to blend the colors a little bit. I liked it better with a paintingbrush than with a regular nailpolishbrush because I can work more precise with it. You apply the other two colors a little smaller than the lightpink base, so you get a little bit of depth.

See, don’t you get inspiration of the above picture?
Canyon Sunrise

Remember that I posted ORLY’s Fantasea a while ago? Well, don’t you think Diamond Cosmetics Canyon Sunrise looks a like? It is a little less duochrome and the gold isn’t as noticeable as in Fantasea but still. It’s pretty close! I saw this nailpolish at first at Sarah her blog Cherryplumsky and I put it on my wishlist immediately. I ordered it together with Hue are you last sunday and I really like it. Application was really easy and it only needed 3 coats to be opaque. A lot better than Fantasea which needed an extra coat and came to a total of 4 coats. Dry time was quick, that’s what I used to with Diamond Cosmetics and I almost never get dissapointed by this brand.

DC Hue are you?

When I found out on twitter that one of my favourite webshops Boozyshop had a -40% off Diamond Cosmetics sale I immediately knew I had to order some. I had 3 colors on my wishlist but only 2 were available. I already have so much Diamond Cosmetics polishes that the rest wasn’t really my thing so I only ordered the two I wanted in first place.

First of them is Hue Are You. A brownish red with little gold shimmer/glitter. It’s not really glitter, it’s not really shimmer so I don’t really know how to describe it. It really is a gorgeous polish. The color is in between these pictures. It was really easy to apply, but the formula was a bit on the thin side. I personally don’t mind that, but I know that some of my readers like their nailpolish a bit thicker. Drytime was quick! I accidently bumped into my camera while swatching, think the nailpolish was on for a little less than 5 minutes and nothing really happened. Well if that isn’t fast!
Diamond Cosmetics is available for €3,95 at Boozyshop.nl. She sends internationally so for my non-dutch readers, you can order at her!
Midnight Passion ft Flakes

One of my favourite manicures is a blue or purple color with flakies. For todays manicure I used 2 lacquers, the first is Midnight Passion from Diamond Cosmetics, the second color is Nfu oh’s #38. I love that lacquer. Used it for quite some manicures and everytime I wear a flake like this one I get tons of compliments.

As you can see on the pictures I already had it on my nails for a few days, there is some tipwear but after 2 days with working with boxes etc. it still looked good enough to take a picture. I did 2 coats of Midnight Passion and one Nfu Oh. I like my GOSH Gasoline and the same Nfu Oh better (you can see that one here). Think it looks a little better with purple. I still want to try these kind of flakes with a green lacquer. Think that will give a nice effect.

I’m sorry that the above picture isn’t really sharp, but it was the only one that showed the green flakes.
Tell me, do you own any flake polishes and which kind of basecolors have you tried underneath it?
Dotted

A while ago I saw a few blogs with a nail-art with little dots, made with a dottingtool. As I like simple nailart designs I really liked seeing these. Today I went to the local city and found myself some of these dottingtools. Mine are from Essence, but I checked the local artstore and they sell some bigger ones, Might get these as well. I know you can get them on eBay too.

Of course I grabbed my favourite brand for this nailart. The colors I used are Diamond Cosmetics Lovin’ Lilac as a base color. The darkpink dots are Diamond Cosmetic’s Fuschia Flash, the blue ones are made with Oh Tiff. I really like how it turned out, and it’s not hard to make at all. Just a basecolor, and then make dots with the dottingtool. I decided to do some dotted lines but you can do what you want or like with it. I’m glad I bought these dottingtools! They are fun to play with and can make a simple manicure just a little bit more exciting.
Winter Wonderland

Sometimes you have those manicures that last a long time, but you get bored of them after a few days. I had that same thing with Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm. It’s a lovely color tough, but in the winter there isn’t just as much sun you need for it to really pop and show it’s holographic colors. So I got bored and decided to pimp it a little bit. Since there is snow again *yugh* and I heared a lot of Christmas songs on the radio I did a little Winter Wonderland theme.

I used the sponge technique (damn, I still need to make a movie-tutorial about that, sorry guys!) for the white on top. With that same sponge I did the snowflakes and the christmastree’s. Its really easy and you don’t need a steady hand to do this. If you cut the sponge in little parts you always have a triangle part on the side so you can use that for the christmas trees.
Hoped you like this little nail-art post.
Gypsy Pink

My last untried Diamond Cosmetics polish is this color. It’s called Gypsy pink, which suits the color I think. I really like it. It reminds me a bit of Fuschia Flash, another DC color. This one has a bit more red in it and a little less of the blue shine Fuschia Flash has. The formula from this one was great. Just right, not to thin, not to thick. I applied 2 coats, so the pigmentation is also very good. I do recommend you to make sure you wear a good basecoat under this one cause it might stain a bit.

Think this one is gonna be one of my favourites in summer.
Tickled Pink

As all of you probably know by now, I am a huuuuge Diamond Cosmetics addict. I absolutely love this brand. I love their weartime, I love their application and I love the colors they have. And they are cheap as well, guess you now know why I like it so much. The swatch I posted above is from Tickled Pink, a lovely pink color. It is more likely a color I would wear in spring time when my hands have a bit more color on them, I think the color will pop a bit more then. I do think it suits pale girls like me in these times as well.

The color was opaque in 2 coats, but still a bit streaky, so I applied a 3 one. Drytime was okay, but a bit slower than I’m used to, probably because the polish was in my Helmer for quite some time and it was a bit on the thick side unfortunately. So the layers where a bit on the thick side.
Blue Bell

I really thought that this one was up for today, but I think it wasn’t or I didn’t saved it. Anyways, last in row from these DC lacquers is Blue Bell. A gorgeous blue color. I really really like it. These are only 2 coats and complete coverage. Application was okay, it dried a bit slower than I am used to with Diamond Cosmetics but it wasn’t bad at all. I like this color with Princess Orchid the best from all the lacquers that are in this special Boozyshop collection. The color of this one reminds me a bit of an jeans.

Bluh, my cuticles look horrible! The weather in the Netherlands is getting really cold. We actually had our first snow today. I need to get used to use my lemony flutter more!
Princess Orchid

This is another exlusive for Boozyshop Diamond Cosmetics lacquer. It’s named Princess Orchid, which, at my humble opinion suits the polish. I like the dark burgundy red color, although it makes my skin even paler than it already is, but I don’t mind. These are 2 coats which looked good when I took the pictures, but the macro function shows every little detail so I should’ve done one extra coat.

It’s slightly lighter than it shows on this picture, but it gives you a good view at how it looked in real life with 2 coats. This is without a topcoat but I have to say these pictures a made right after application, so the polish is not completely dry jet. But I have to say that most DC’s have some great shine on their own, but I always use topcoat to seal them, for the shine I feel like I don’t need an extra topcoat. I really like these lacquers, I think everyone who loves nailpolish should at least own a few of Diamond Cosmetics.
