Glisten Up

One of the other new nailpolish of the colour and go collection from Essence is Glisten Up, a really light blue with flakes. Unfortunately this polish is kinda sheer and if you don’t like vnl you need to use it as a topcoat. I did 4 coats for the effect on these pictures. I really like the fact that a cheap drugstore brand as Essence has a flakie in their core collection.

As you can see, the nailpolish is babyblue and has little flakes and glitters. I think this will look gorgeous on a dark basecoat. The nailpolish sells for only €1,29.
Essence – Choose Me

So, it’s been a while ago since my last nailpolishpost. I’m sorry about that but school was a little bit more important for me last week. Now I’ve got time to blog again, so here is a new swatch. This time I’m gonna show you Essence’s Choose Me. I know this polish is featured quite a lot on the WWW and that’s why I waited a bit with swatching it. When I got this as a surprise at the package from PimpMyNailz I’ve won recently I remembered this one and decided it was time to do a blogpost. I got a backup for this one and will do a giveaway soon so you can win it!

This one is really easy to apply on your nails. The downside is that it is quite pigmentated and stains your nails easily. A good basecoats is really recommended for this one. The other downside is that it kinda sheer so I needed 3 quite thick coats to get this opaque. The pictures shown above are a little bit more green than the polish is irl. It’s more like the bottle. more duochrome with really gorgeous blue and green colors and shimmer. It’s one of the many dupes from Zoya Charla but I’m really glad I got it. A must-have for every lacquerista.
Swatches Metallics

I had some time on my hands today so here are the swatches from the Metallics LE from Essence. I played a bit with the magnet, but still, I don’t really like it. Some of the colors are gorgeous on their own. I find it kinda weird that some colors are easier with the magnet than others. I tried a bit and it works the best when the magnet almost touches your nails. You have to have a lot of polish on your brush and after applying immediately hold the magnet above your nails and keep it there for 30 seconds. The magnet has to be really really close, almost touching your nails, otherwise it will not do the trick. The nailpolish has to be completely dry before you “remove” the magnet, otherwise the magnetic parts seem to return to the place where they are applied, the effect will be less if you remove the magnet to quickly. When the polish is dry it is semi-matte. Lets move on to the swatches.

First in row is Copper Rulez. This is one of the lacquers that does the magnet-trick a bit better than the others. I also like this color on it’s own. It’s a copper with golden glitters in it.

Second is Iron Goddess. I think this is one of the lacquers you could skip if you want the magnetic effect. The only thing I got to work is the horizontal stripes, the vertical and slashed ones just did not work for me. Maybe I did not have enough patient, but it just wouldn’t work. I do like this color on its own. It’s not really a lacquer I would wear a lot, but I still like it.

The third is Nothing Else Metals (I keep typing Nothing Else Matters). This one worked okay with the horizontal stripes, but the others, well, see it for yourself… I do not like this one on it’s own so I do not recommened you to buy this one.

The last metallic is Steel Me. As you can see, I could not get this to work with the magnet. Not at all. I do not like the color on me either, so for the pale girls, do not get this one!

And last but not least, the metallic one. This lacquer has not got the magnetic parts in it. I found this one a bit thinner and less pigmentated as the others. Thats probably because you can easily do 2 coats instead of one (wich you have to with the magnetics). It’s gorgeous. It has little silvery shimmers in it and is opaque in 2 coats.
Application of all polishes is okay. 2 (thick) coats for the magnetics and 1 for the metallic one. I thought I would like this collection a little better but it’s kinda dissapointing in my eyes. The magnetic idea is cool, but doesn’t work that good unfortunately. You pay only €1,99 a bottle and €1,99 for the magnet so it isn’t a big loss if you do not like them.
Essence – Metallics

A little sneak peak. I got the Essence Metallics today. I did some swatching but it was to dark and lightning sucks, so I will re-do them tomorrow. I can tell you that the magnet sucks, it doesn’t work that well so I guess it’s kinda weak. Whole review will be online soon, I hope to have some time later today or tomorrow. For now, here are some previews.

Walk of Fame

Yep, here’s another nude. This brown color is from the Colour & Go line from Essence and only cost met €1,79 or so. I wasn’t planning on buying another nude, but there was a 2+1 sale so I needed a +1 and chose for Walk Of Fame.

Walk Of Fame is a greyish creme brown color. The application was okay, 2 coats for complete coverage. It was a bit on the thick side, which I experience all the time with Essence polishes. That’s one of the main reasons I do not really like the lacquers from this brand. I have to say I the Limited Editions are way better than the core line lacquers. Those are easy to applicate and not as thick as the cores. After all I like this color and with some thinner it is a nice polish.
Essence – Chocolate Shake

This is a lacquer from a previous limited edition collection, named creamylicious. The colorname is Chocolate Shake. A lacquer with the name Chocolate Shake? I really need to have it! You do me a huge favoure if you are visiting me and bring some chocolate with you. I admit. I’m a chocoholic.

This lacquer reminds me a bit of the Catrice Lost in mud/From dust to dawn colors. The lacquer has a little golden/orange shimmer in it, but that isn’t really visible when you are wearing it unfortunately. The application was quite good. The lacquers from the LE from Essence are always way more easy to apply than the core ones. I do not like the formula of most of the core line Essence lacquers, but the LE always please me. This one is a bit thin, but really easy to apply and had full coverage in 2 coats. Unfortunately this polish isn’t available in most stores anymore. Sometimes I do see it in the salearea in the drugstore I bought it. Actually, mine is from one of those.
Back to Paradise

From Essence their return to paradise limited edition I got one polish, named back to paradise. It’s a really dark green wich was really hard to capture on cam, most of the time it seemed almost black. But in real life it’s a really dark green color. The application was smooth, complete coverage in 2 coats wich is better than most of the essence polishes I own. They do chip quite fast on me so I don’t wear many Essence polishes. The polishes of the LE seems to be a better quality then their regular lines. When writing this the Return to Paradise collection is still available at the store I bought these so go check them out.
Essence – Caribbean Sea

Essence has the show your feet collection. It contains for about 8 polishes in different color ranges. I own 4 of them. You can use them with Konad cause they are really pigmentated.
Today I’m showing you Carribean Sea. It’s a greenish blue color wich is opaque in only 2 coats. It has a blue base color with green shimmer in it.Application is okay, don’t needed thinner. The only downside of it is that it chips quite fast.
Funky Holo Fun
When I did this manicure it was really sunny outside, so I wanted to do something with a holographic polish. So I digged out the Glamrock polishes from Essence. I have all three of them, but I used the light grey/silver one and the pink one today.

I decided to go with pink at first. This is made in the sunlight, so you can really see the holographic glitters. Love it! But I wasn’t satisfied. So I decided to pimp it a little with a moon manicure.

Hmm… Nope, not what I planned to do. So I took it all of again. But I really wanted to do something with this color. So, lets try a french! The pink on the silver would be a better combination cause the silver isn’t opaque enough.

yeah! That’s what I wanted to see. So this is the end result of playing around with two of my holo’s.

Tell me, do you play around with your polishes and get to a result like this one?
