Glisten Up

One of the other new nailpolish of the colour and go collection from Essence is Glisten Up, a really light blue with flakes. Unfortunately this polish is kinda sheer and if you don’t like vnl you need to use it as a topcoat. I did 4 coats for the effect on these pictures. I really like the fact that a cheap drugstore brand as Essence has a flakie in their core collection.

As you can see, the nailpolish is babyblue and has little flakes and glitters. I think this will look gorgeous on a dark basecoat. The nailpolish sells for only €1,29.

Midnight Passion ft Flakes

One of my favourite manicures is a blue or purple color with flakies. For todays manicure I used 2 lacquers, the first is Midnight Passion from Diamond Cosmetics, the second color is Nfu oh’s #38. I love that lacquer. Used it for quite some manicures and everytime I wear a flake like this one I get tons of compliments.

As you can see on the pictures I already had it on my nails for a few days, there is some tipwear but after 2 days with working with boxes etc. it still looked good enough to take a picture. I did 2 coats of Midnight Passion and one Nfu Oh. I like my GOSH Gasoline and the same Nfu Oh better (you can see that one here). Think it looks a little better with purple. I still want to try these kind of flakes with a green lacquer. Think that will give a nice effect.

I’m sorry that the above picture isn’t really sharp, but it was the only one that showed the green flakes.

Tell me, do you own any flake polishes and which kind of basecolors have you tried underneath it?

Femme Fatale

This lovely nailpolish is the other one I own from Teeez Cosmetics. I really really like this one. It is kinda a flakie and I like red lacquers better every day. At the moment I’ve got Ruby Pumps as my manicure for New Years Eve but this one is almost as gorgeous as that one. It applied really easy, 2 coats was enough for complete coverage. It has great yellow orange and purple/blue flake like glitters. I really like this one! The bottle contains 10ml and cost around €4,50.

Alessandro

I always walk by the Douglas in my town. They’ve just switch to a new location so I needed to take a look. I walked by a nailpolish rack when my eye caught a flakie. It is from the brand Alessandro. I did some research and this turned out to be a German brand. It seemed like this brand isn’t sold anymore by Douglas, and this were there last polishes. I’m kinda dissapointed from that, because I really like this polish and looking at their product brochure on their website I want to try more from this brand.

Anyways, this is a purple/red based flake. In the bottle it seemed red to me, but when I did the first coat it turned out to be purple. Well, not a big deal for me. I love it anyways. The second coat made it look more red in the light I was working. I am used to more jelly based flakes. This one seemed to be more like a normal polish, but a little thicker. It didn’t worked as well. Next time I use it I will use some thinner first.

The pictures give you a good impression of how the polish is in real life. The flakes change from red/orange to blue/green and the base is in some light red, and some purple. I really like this polish, the price was €3,95 for 5ml.

Cowgirl up ft Nfu Oh.

Yay, my internet is back up! So finally an update again. Last week I asked a friend of mine what nailpolish I should wear. He wanted purple with glitters. So, that’s the little story behind this nailpolish. It’s ChinaGlaze’s CowGirl Up topped with a layer of Nfu Oh’s 51. For those wondering. Yep, one of my favourite manicures is a purple color topped with an flake. I think this color combination is really amazing and the purple makes the flakes pop a bit more.

Nfu oh 60

When I was looking up some swatches of the Nfu Oh polishes I saw this one. I couldn’t find a lot of swatches from this polish so I was doubting wether to buy this one or not. I’m glad I did. Most of you know that flakes are really nice to layer on a black polish. This polish already has a black base. It is, as all the polishes I ordered, a bit sheer but when you put a layer of black under it I think this color really pops. The flakes are orange/yellow colored and sometimes they show their green side. It’s not like rainbow or Nfu Oh 38 cos that one has more orange/red flakes instead of the orange/yellow ones in this.

Overall I really recommend everyone to get some Nfu Oh polishes. I know they aren’t as cheap as Catrice or another drug store brand but they are really worth it. The polishes are unique and Nfu Oh has a great varity of colors and different kind of finishes. They also sell real over the top holographic polishes. They are easy top apply. The colors are a bit sheer on their own but with a base color they really are something you need to have in your stash. I bet everyone gives you compliments when you wear one of this polishes.

Nfu oh 59

This is number two of the serie of three Nfu Oh polishes I bought at NailXl. It’s Nfu Oh’s #59. It’s a red based polish with red/orange flakes.

I really want to advice you all to use a colorbase and layer this polish cos otherwise it’s kinda sheer. The color is great though.

This color reminds me after vulcano’s and lava, it has this strong red base and with these yellow/orange flakes it looks like your nails are on fire. I really like the color. I do not wear reds very often but for this polish I would happily make an exception.

Nfu Oh (swatch 51)

So you already know I really like polishes that contains flakes. And wich brand has the best flake polishes? Right. Nfu Oh. This brand has the most gorgeous bottles I’ve ever seen, the lovely dress/corset ones. And next to that their flake polishes (I do not own any holographic polishes so can’t tell anything about those) apply like a dream. The only thing is that they are kinda sheer. That doesn’t really matter to me cos I use them most of the time to layer over black or another base color. For these 3 upcoming posts I swatched them on their own so you can see how they are without a base. For all of them I used 3 coats.

All of the polishes are ordered at the lovely NailXl.nl a great dutch webshop. The Nfu Oh flakes cost you for about 7,95E a bottle. They ship within Europe. The service is great and they ship and respond very fast. Last week the redesigned website came online so go check them out.

Today I’m gonna show you #51. A gorgeous blue/purple based with multi-color flakes.

See how gorgeous it is? I absolutely love it. Too bad it is kinda sheer so you do need 4 coats for complete coverage.

Gorgeous isn’t it? I made another picture for you to show the different colors of the flakes. The above pictures show the red/orange side of this polish its flakes. When the sunshine hits the flakes they become green and blue.

I think this is my favourite one of the three polishes I ordered. It reminds me of the sunset of a warm and sunny day.

Lavender Flakes

This is Lavender pearlescent with golden rose scale effect #09. It is a hard pink with flakes that gives it nice orange and green effects.

As always with flakes your nails will look different with another way of lightning.

Most of the time it looks like the above picture. Just pink with a little extra. I love this kind of manicures, its something not many people wear cause it’s most of the time some plane color. I love people who do something creative with their nails, like konad or these flakes if you are not into nailart.

Glitter with Flake

Really guys, you don’t want to know how many pictures I tried to take of this manicure. It will not show up on the pictures as how freakin’ gorgeous it really is. I’m in love. It contains the two best thing of polishes, flakes and glitters.

These are Nubar’s Petunia Sparkle, a great purple glitter. The amount of glitter is just right. You need two coats to get it fully opaque. The color on itself is already wonderfull. See those sparkles? Makes a nailoholics heart tumble. The flakies gives the manicure another dimension. I got a lot of compliments when I wored this manicure.

And the best is yet to come. Do you see my tipwear and little chips? This is after a two full days, including one day of working. I’m really, really surprised. At my work I’m always using my nails (yep, I’m really sorry guys but I do..) as tools. I use them to open up boxes, taking batteries out of products, all that kinda things. You can imagine that it ruins my manicure. After a full day of work I do have major chips. Can’t wear a polish after a workday. Well, look at these pictures. The first one I took right after doing this manicure. The others are after a day of working. Yes I do have chips, yes I do have tipwear but I will this manicure one more day because I need to work again the day after writing this.

In case you wondering, yes, this is my left hand. My main hand is my right one, so kinda hard to photograph, but I gave it a try for you, and even my right hand is not as bad as normally. The right one is always worse than the left because I use it more.

Sorry for the blurry pics. But see? Even this one is still kinda okay. I’m really shocked. Is this the glitter Nubar? The Golden Rose Flake? I don’t know. It did take quite a long time to dry (well, really long time, 24 hours after this manicure I could still make nailmarks) but with the flakes and glitter it is hardly noticeable.
