Canyon Sunrise

Remember that I posted ORLY’s Fantasea a while ago? Well, don’t you think Diamond Cosmetics Canyon Sunrise looks a like? It is a little less duochrome and the gold isn’t as noticeable as in Fantasea but still. It’s pretty close! I saw this nailpolish at first at Sarah her blog Cherryplumsky and I put it on my wishlist immediately. I ordered it together with Hue are you last sunday and I really like it. Application was really easy and it only needed 3 coats to be opaque. A lot better than Fantasea which needed an extra coat and came to a total of 4 coats. Dry time was quick, that’s what I used to with Diamond Cosmetics and I almost never get dissapointed by this brand.

l’Oreal 220

I bought another l’Oreal with the post from a few days ago. the bottle is different than the last one, and I think that’s because it is an oldie. I’m afraid you can’t get it anymore but I wanted to show you the difference. This is from the old Resist & Shine collection and it sucks. I’m sorry to say but it really does. The color is nothing special, application was horrible, it was thick, didn’t go easily on the nails and I just didn’t liked it overall. The drytime was not so good either, it took ages to get it touchdry. Well, haven’t got anything good to say about this polish. Luckily for me it didn’t cost me that much. If you want to buy some of the l’Oreal Resist&Shine collection I recommend you to go for the bottles shown in my last post and not for these.

Gypsy Pink

My last untried Diamond Cosmetics polish is this color. It’s called Gypsy pink, which suits the color I think. I really like it. It reminds me a bit of Fuschia Flash, another DC color. This one has a bit more red in it and a little less of the blue shine Fuschia Flash has. The formula from this one was great. Just right, not to thin, not to thick. I applied 2 coats, so the pigmentation is also very good. I do recommend you to make sure you wear a good basecoat under this one cause it might stain a bit.

Think this one is gonna be one of my favourites in summer.

Tickled Pink

As all of you probably know by now, I am a huuuuge Diamond Cosmetics addict. I absolutely love this brand. I love their weartime, I love their application and I love the colors they have. And they are cheap as well, guess you now know why I like it so much. The swatch I posted above is from Tickled Pink, a lovely pink color. It is more likely a color I would wear in spring time when my hands have a bit more color on them, I think the color will pop a bit more then. I do think it suits pale girls like me in these times as well.

The color was opaque in 2 coats, but still a bit streaky, so I applied a 3 one. Drytime was okay, but a bit slower than I’m used to, probably because the polish was in my Helmer for quite some time and it was a bit on the thick side unfortunately. So the layers where a bit on the thick side.

An affair to remember

When I updated my excelsheet with the links of posts with swatches I found out that I didn’t swatched a bunch of ChinaGlaze, which actually surprised me. I thought I already swatched and wore all of them. Seems I was wrong at that. Anyways. This is An Affair To Remember. It is a lacquer with a frost finish. In the bottle it looked more red to me, on my nails it’s more a dark pink. Not that I mind, cause I love my pinks.

I was actually quite surprised with the pigmentation in this polish. It was almost opaque in 1 coat, where I expected it to be sheer. I did 2 coats for the pictures. Application was great, dry time was great. It is a shame that this polish was untried and in my Helmer for so long. I think I’m gonna wear this color next summer a lot. I really like it. It is (for me) one of those colors I like to wear to my work

Garé Cosmetics

When I was at an euroshop nearby I found these nailpolishes. They are from Garé cosmetics. They were €2,50 each. I’ve never heard or seen about this brand before, so I did some research and found out Garé is from the same distributor as Black Onyx. Black Onyx is another budget brand that’s origine is in the Netherlands, but is sold in more countries in Europe.

I tried 2 lacquers. A pink (#14) with glitter and a purple shimmer, wich unfortunately I can’t find a number because the label stayed on the plastic package it has when you buy it, so I think I trew it away.

Anyways. I’m not so sure about these polishes. The color range the line has is not that special, most of them seemed really sheer. I bought the two that seemed okay to me. The application is okay, the formula is kinda thick and slow drying. But the thing I hated the most was the smell. That really was a big obstacle for me. I think most of you know the smell of Seche Vite? If you thought that was bad, well, you don’t want to know how bad these smell.

The colors are okay, 2 coats for complete coverage but I’ve seen these colors by many brands, so they are not that spectecular. I think I will not buy myself some of the other colors and stick to the brands I know and like.

Electrified

I think most of you know one of the bestsellers of Diamond Cosmetics, Sparkling Sherry one of the most amazing colors I own. I love it. When I first did a manicure with Electrified I had a feeling it looked similar to Sparkling Sherry. It is lighter and the formula is not really the same but I do like this one very much. This is from the Color Craze collection I told you about yesterday. The pigment in this polish is a-ma-zing. I was really surprised to see this could be a one-coater. I always do a second coat, just because I want to know for sure to coverage is even and I correct the lacquer at my cuticles on the second coat. I don’t know what it is about this lacquer, but I really like it. It sure gives your nails a lot of attention!

Rimmel

This is one of the first lacquers I bought when I started to wear nailpolish again. It’s a color from the Rimmel Lycra collection. I wore this in that time quite often. Nowadays I don’t really use it anymore. The color is a peachy pink with silver shimmer. Application was okay, but I had to thin the polish a bit, but that’s okay since it’s quite old. Dry time was horrific. After half an hour I gave up, it just didn’t dried. When I applied seche it smugded and I had to do it over again. I just swatched it for you guys, don’t think I’m gonna wear this any time soon because I really hate lacquers that don’t dry.. I just do not have the patient to wait for hours at a lacquer to dry.

Paris Memories – 212

This is the sheer, frosty finished polish from Paris Memories I told you about. I think this one is great to layer over another polish, it has a silver frosty finish, think it would be cool on a dark color. Remind me of this, but I will try it out for you any time soon.

This is 3 thin coats. Makes the lacquer quite opaque but still got the VNL. For a sheer lacquer, 3 coats and almost full coverage is really good.

Back to School

After seeing this Rose manicure at the Lacquer Files and Beautylab (Serena made a photo-tutorial about this, it’s in Dutch but the pictures a very clear, so go check it out!) I really wanted to try it. Today it’s my first day school, so last week I was thinking about a back to school manicure when suddenly this popped into my mind. So I tried, and think it turned out quite good for my first attempt. It is not that difficult as it looks like, but you really need to practice a little bit. You easily get a plain pink color instead of having the rose effect. At least, that’s what I got, I tend to mix the two colors to much.

The polishes I used for this are For Audrey from China Glaze as the base color, a red Konad and a white Konad nailpolish (next time I’m gonna use regular polishes, these are not so fast drying as the Konad Polishes, maybe that makes it a little bit easier to do) for the roses and Happy/Earthy for the leafs. It’s really fun to do, but takes a bit of time. If you are into nailart you should try this out.
