First of all, for my dutch readers, I own a beautyblog since the first of february called Beauty ‘n Spice. I think it would be great if you will follow me there! All my beauty related posts will be up there since it is much easier for me to write in Dutch instead of English since Dutch is my first language. I will keep Nailoholic and will post my nailart etc. here but it will be on less regular base.

Anyways, today I want to show you one of the new Catrice lacquers. It’s absolutely Chinchilly and I’ve won it at a giveaway at Battered Rose, this website is closed since the owner decided to start up a new blog, feeling more like her. That’s Ara’s Adventures.

I love this color! It’s so gorgeous, greyish brown. The sort of color that we have seen quite some times in the fall/winter. It was easy to apply, only needed 2 coats, dried fast. Can’t really wish for more. Imo this is a must-have fashionable color!

This is a lovely green with a yellow/golden shimmer. It’s kinda frosty/pearly and that’s not really my finish, but with this one I don’t mind. Application was okay, but it is a bit streaky. It is a sheer one, so I needed at least 3 coats. Downside on this polish was the drytime. It was slow as hell. I’m always getting really frustrated when a nailpolish takes a long time to dry. Guess you know what I mean. I always tend to bump into things and destroy my nailpolish. Happened with this one so I was lucky I took these photo’s right before that.

If this was a fastdrying polish I would wear it a lot more in summertimes, but I guess this one is staying in my Helmer for most of the time and I’ll pick one of the other greens I own.

One of the other new nailpolish of the colour and go collection from Essence is Glisten Up, a really light blue with flakes. Unfortunately this polish is kinda sheer and if you don’t like vnl you need to use it as a topcoat. I did 4 coats for the effect on these pictures. I really like the fact that a cheap drugstore brand as Essence has a flakie in their core collection.

As you can see, the nailpolish is babyblue and has little flakes and glitters. I think this will look gorgeous on a dark basecoat. The nailpolish sells for only €1,29.

A while ago I saw a nailart with ladybugs. I don’t remember where and unfortunately I didn’t bookmarked the website, so if you recognize this nailart and you know who made it originally please leave a comment so I can mention it in my post!

They are so easy to make! You just need a basecolor, and a white and black striper. Apply your base, with a black striper you make the first lines, with the white one you make a little accent next to the black lines. Take the black one again and make little dots and don’t forget to give your ladybug a little head and you’re done. They look a better if the stripes are thinner than mine. This technique can be used for a lot of different designs, I got some ideas after doing these.

Another of the lacquers I’ve won. This is MNY 545. Not really my color. I thought it was a sheer polish when I first saw it but it turned out that it give quite some coverage. It has a frost finish which I myself do not really like. The basecolor is a silvery pink and it has white/glitter shimmers. I did 2 coats to get the coverage as shown on the pictures. For complete coverage you might want to do at least 3. Application was okay but with these frost lacquers you need to make sure that you applicate from the cuticle to the tip of your nails because you see the brushstrokes you make. As  you can see on my ringfinger, I tend to forget that and then you get something like that… Drytime was okay, not long but also not short.

Sometimes I get inspired by pictures I see. A few weeks ago I saw a picture of cherryblossems and other flowers and that inspired me to do a flower nail-art. The colors I used are all from Diamond Cosmetics. I’m not sure about all the names of the polishes since they were named c1 and c4 etc. For the flowers I used Tickled Pink as a basecolor, it’s a light pink color which is  great as a base for these flowers. Than I used a darker pink/orange color, Calypso, I think the base and maincolor on the nail is Blue Bell, but I’m not completely sure since it is one of those C numbers. The dark purple in the middle of the flowers is also a C number from Diamond Cosmetics, I’m not completely sure but I think it’s Princess Orchid.

It’s quite simple to make these kind of designs. Suzanne from DeltaCephei asked me to do a tutorial when I showed her these pictures yesterday so I think I will make one in the future. For now: The first step is to use a basecolor. I did a blue one, but I think you will get a cool effect when you use a light but bright pink color, than you need a really light pink for the flowers. At first I did 3 drops, but I like it better when you do four. Make sure you don’t have a lot of nailpolish on your brush since you do not want perfect rounds. I applied the other two pink color with a small paintingbrush since you need to blend the colors a little bit. I liked it better with a paintingbrush than with a regular nailpolishbrush because I can work more precise with it. You apply the other two colors a little smaller than the lightpink base, so you get a little bit of depth.

This is the last nailpolish I got from my sister when she went to visit London in December. It’s called Ruby Gem, a gorgeous bordeaux red cream nailpolish. I really like it. I’m more and more starting to like reds better. It is a really classy color which you can wear for almost every occasion.

It was easy to apply this nailpolish. Unfortunately I took this pictures when it started to get dark in my room so I needed to photoshop them a little bit to get the right color. Anyways, this nailpolish is opaque in only 2 coats, applied quite easy but it was bit on the thin side. As I said before, I personally don’t mind that but I can understand why some people don’t like their nailpolish to be a bit thin. It makes the nailpolish easy to float on your nails and that might cause that the nailpolish end on your fingers instead of on your nails. That’s not the case with this one, it does float a little bit but since it is a fast-drying nailpolish it’s still quite easy to apply. I like this one the best out of the three she got me. True Blue wasn’t easy to apply, thick and just not what I like. Love was okay, but since I got so much pink nailpolishes, I think it will probably be in my Helmer and I forget about it, so I think I would not wear it many times..

I can be short about this particular Sephora nailpolish. I don’t like it, it was thick, not easy to apply, drytime was really long and the only thing I did like about this one is the color. I really like these kind of minty greens. Anyways, this is it for now, don’t want to spend any more words on this one…

So, it’s been a while ago since my last nailpolishpost. I’m sorry about that but school was a little bit more important for me last week. Now I’ve got time to blog again, so here is a new swatch. This time I’m gonna show you Essence’s Choose Me. I know this polish is featured quite a lot on the WWW and that’s why I waited a bit with swatching it. When I got this as a surprise at the package from PimpMyNailz I’ve won recently I remembered this one and decided it was time to do a blogpost. I got a backup for this one and will do a giveaway soon so you can win it!

This one is really easy to apply on your nails. The downside is that it is quite pigmentated and stains your nails easily. A good basecoats is really recommended for this one. The other downside is that it kinda sheer so I needed 3 quite thick coats to get this opaque. The pictures shown above are a little bit more green than the polish is irl. It’s more like the bottle. more duochrome with really gorgeous blue and green colors and shimmer. It’s one of the many dupes from Zoya Charla but I’m really glad I got it. A must-have for every lacquerista.
